Who?
Everyone is welcome who has an interest in such things, newbies and adepts alike! People with an interest in hacking and phreaking, as well as related things such as computer security, standard telepony, cryptography, scanning, cellular telephony and technology in general. This is a public meeting, no one will be turned away.
What?
Discussions about the topics which interest us. People are encouraged to bring props (homemade boxes, scanners, cellphones...) and text files. We do not have access to any power sources though, so what you bring must be able to operate on its own...
When?
The first Friday of the month is when we get together. We start to gather around 7pm, with the meeting really getting under way around 7:30. People stick around for as long as they like, but things usually wind down around 9pm.
Where?
We meet at Cafe Wim, 537 Sussex Dr, on the edge of the Market downtown. We are mere minutes from the Rideau Centre, and practically in the shadow of the Parliament buildings. You will find us in one of the rooms at the back (usually up the stairs around the round table), I usually have a black 2600 T-shirt on so I'm easy to spot.
Why?
Hackers and phreaks need to associate with one another in order to learn. Our meetings provide a central focal point, so people who might not have met each other can. The meetings provide an alternative to childish H/P/A bulletin boards who cater to a small group of friends, and encourage the growth of the hacker community and awareness in general.
